THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
When we are having a conflict many of us are quick to pull out our sword, but how about wielding the sword of the Spirit?
THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
Ephesians 6:17 The sword of the spirit, which is the word of God
At times we all feel weak, we feel as though we don’t have enough strength to make it through the day. Thankfully, there is a station where we can recharge our battery.
Stand
Christians are encouraged to be strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10). When the children of Israel felt overwhelmed, they were told to stand still (Exodus 14:13). There are several ways in which we can stand. Stand fast (Galatians 5:1), stand perfect (Colossians 4:12), stand against (Ephesians 6:11). Our ability to stand depends on our willingness to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18).
Satan
We are told to prepare for battle because we face a formidable enemy (Ephesians 6:11). You can’t see him, you can’t track him, you can’t destroy him (Ephesians 6:12). He is the epitome of evil (Ephesians 6:16). Satan has one purpose which is to destroy us (1 Peter 5:8 2 Corinthians 2:11 4:4 Revelation 2:10 12:7-10). Although we cannot destroy him, we can do something.
Sword
Jesus wielded his sword three times, and then the Devil fled (Matthew 4:4 7 10 11). Soldiers of Christ must likewise put up their physical sword and pull out the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God (Matthew 26:52 Ephesians 6:12 17). The word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword (Hebrew 4:12). It pricked 3000 hearts on the day of Pentecost and has cut many (Acts 2:37 5:30-33 7:54).
Spirit
Remember that the Bible is the product of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 6:17 2 Peter 1:20 21). Jesus kept his promise to send the Holy Spirit who would reveal his truth to mankind John 16:13 1 Corinthians 2:4 10 Ephesians 3:3-5. Take the sword with you (1 Peter 3:15).
