MENTAL STABILITY
You may not know that you are acting strangely until someone tells you. Instead of getting angry, you may need to do a serious self-examination.
MENTAL STABILITY
Mk5:15 Sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind
Every morning, we should give thanks that God wakes us up in our right minds. The reality is that thousands of people suffer from mental instability.
Case
Jesus encountered a man called Legion (Mark 5:9). This man was possessed by many unclean spirits or demons. Zechariah prophesied that unclean spirits would be removed at the same time as prophets (Zechariah 13:1-2). By the end of the first century, there were no more prophets (Matthew 10:8, 1 Corinthians 13:8-10, James 1:25). Unclean spirits are gone, but mental instability still exists (Proverbs 23:29-35).
Cold
Like Legion, many walk the streets completely naked (Mark 5:1-5 15). Today, modesty is not practiced by even some people who consider themselves to be Christians (1 Timothy 2:9-10, Galatians 5:22-23, Philippians 4:5). Both male and female are comfortable revealing skin and causing others to lust (Matthew 5:28 James 1:13-15 1 Corinthians 8:9). Let us remember how David got into trouble with Bathsheba (2 Samuels 11:1-5).
Cost
Mental instability caused Legion to lose his home. When Jesus met him, he was living in a cemetery, crying and cutting himself (Mark 5:1-5). He was treated like an animal. Many do not take their mental health seriously until they have lost their job, freedom, relationships, and status (Genesis 4:1-12, 1 Samuel 19:9-10, Luke 15:17). We need to manage our anger, anxiety, and depression (Philippians 4:4-13, Hebrews 12:1-2, Matthew 27:5).
Cure
Jesus is still the answer (Luke 4:18). When Legion saw Jesus, he ran and worshipped him (Mark 5:6). If we lose our faith, we cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6). In desperation, some turn to sorcery, which is forbidden by God (Deuteronomy 18:10-11 1 King 28:6-9 Acts 8:9-11). In addition to faith, one may need to seek professional help (2 Corinthians 5:7, Matthew 9:12). Thankfully, the church is equipped with doctors like Luke (Colossians 4:14).
