JOY
In an attempt to enjoy life, some have embraced the wrong philosophy, gone to the wrong place, and done the wrong things. The bible still has the best answers to your questions on how to find joy in an unhappy world.
JOY
1 Thessalonians 1:6 With joy of the Holy Ghost
With all the negative news and problems in the world, is it possible to have lasting joy? How and where can I find this elusive emotion?
Saints
Some of the happiest people in the world are those who imitate Jesus and his apostles (1 Thessalonians 1:6). In spite of rejection, affliction, and tribulation, Jesus was the happiest person that ever lived (John 1:11 Isaiah 53:1-5 Hebrews 1:9). His apostles shared his joy and encouraged all Christians to rejoice (John 15:11 Philippians 4:4). Though challenging, followers of Christ strive to be satisfied in any situation (Philippians 4:11).
Start
The road to happiness begins with realizing that the pleasure of sin is just for a season (Hebrews 11:25). We learn from the church at Thessalonica that the moment they received the word, joy came into their lives (1 Thessalonians 1:6 Luke 24:32). A confused Eunuch upon obedience to the gospel, went on his way rejoicing (Acts 8:27-39). Another who rejected Jesus went home in sorrow (Matthew 19:22).
State
According to the record, despite affliction, the church at Thessalonica experienced jubilation (1Thessalonians 1:6). Each time we sing, we make melody in our heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). We are ecstatic when one sinner comes to repentance (Luke 15:4-25). We are truly blessed when we develop the attitudes Jesus taught in his first sermon (Matthew 5:1-12).
Source
This unspeakable joy does not come from drugs, movies, nature, or even marriage; it comes from the Holy Spirit (1Thessaloians 1:6 1Peter 1:8). Remember that one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy (Galatians 5:22). Unfortunately, many people enjoy misery. They don’t want to make a joyful noise to the Lord or serve the Lord with gladness (Psalms 100:1 2). Let us praise God, for he is good (Psalms 100:3-5).
